The Town Council of Tala is a local authority located approximately 65kilometres to the South East Kenya's capital city, Nairobi. The main road linking the council to the City of Nairobi is the Kangundo road, which also joins Tala town to Machakos town to the East. The town council is famous for its properly developed bus stop, Groceries market and drainage systems.
Tala Township, Kangundo Junior Academy, Tala Boys Primary School, Tala High School and Tala Girls Secondary schools are just but some of the learning institutions that have given Tala town fame. These schools lie within the Town Council of Tala and attract students from all over the Country. In the year 2009, Tala High School was the 5th best school in Machakos district while Tala Township was the best school in the district during the 2009 KCPE examinations
Tala Sports Ground is the arena for political campaigns in Kangundo constituency and is also located within the Town council of Kangundo. (see Picture below)
Water demands for the Town council of Tala is served by Kangundo-Matungulu water and sewerage company (KAMWASCO) whose visionis to provide clean and safe drinking water for all Kangundo and Matungulu residents.
